Does your bathroom need a facelift? Most people are looking for more light, more storage, and more usable space than the original plan gave them. Thoughtful planning and attention to detail are the keys to success on any bathroom remodel.

Whatever your goals and budget, GW Construction will look at how your family actually uses the room and build toward the result you want. A well-done bathroom is one of the clearest improvements you can make to a home.

How we approach it

What matters on a bathroom remodeling project

  • Waterproofing is the whole job

Everything visible in a bathroom sits on top of work you will never see again. Pan slope, curb and bench detailing, membrane and seam treatment, backer board, and the transitions at niches and benches are where bathrooms fail. We build the assembly to the manufacturer specification and inspect it before tile goes on.

  • Walk-in, curbless, and aging in place

Curbless showers, wider doorways, comfort-height fixtures, and blocking in the walls for future grab bars are increasingly the ask — often from clients who intend to stay in the house. Blocking in particular costs almost nothing during a remodel and is expensive to add later.

  • Ventilation that actually works

An undersized fan ducted into an attic instead of through the roof is one of the most common defects we find in valley homes, and in a cold-winter climate it produces exactly the moisture and mold problems you would expect. We size the fan to the room and duct it outside, insulated and sloped correctly.

  • Small footprints, better plans

Most older Boise bathrooms are small and will stay small. The gains come from a better fixture layout, borrowing a few inches from a closet or hallway, a larger mirror and better lighting, and storage built into the wall cavity rather than sitting in front of it.

Bathroom Remodeling: common questions

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

A guest or hall bath that keeps its layout typically runs three to five weeks. A primary suite that moves plumbing, adds a curbless shower, or changes the footprint runs six to ten. Tile and stone lead times and the inspection schedule are usually what set the outside date.

Can you convert my tub to a walk-in shower?

Yes, and it is one of the most common projects we do. The practical considerations are drain relocation, floor framing for a curbless pan, waterproofing detail, and whether the house still has a tub somewhere — worth thinking about for resale if this is the only one.

Do I need a permit for a bathroom remodel in the Treasure Valley?

If plumbing or electrical is moved or added, or framing changes, yes. A straight fixture-for-fixture swap with no relocation often does not. We pull whatever the jurisdiction requires and schedule the inspections as part of the job.
