Areas we cover

Boise, the Treasure Valley, and the counties around it.

Every jurisdiction here works differently — Boise historic districts and Foothills review, Garden City's own code, city limits that do not follow mailing addresses, and irrigation district easements that decide where a building can actually sit. We build those into the plan from the first conversation.

What our clients say about GW Construction

We specialise in helping clients get the biggest return on their investment — and we’d welcome the chance to give you a custom evaluation of your home.

“The finished work was excellent, delivered on time, and inside our budget. What more is there to ask?”

Our experience with GW Construction was outstanding from beginning to end. They were recommended to us by a real estate agent we trusted, who was helping us plan a remodel of a home we had just purchased. Past contractors had been hit or miss for us, so committing to a renovation north of $70,000 made us genuinely nervous. That changed at the first meeting. Derek listened carefully to what we wanted the remodel to accomplish and then carried the plan out faithfully. Just as valuable, he offered real insight where he saw a way to improve on our thinking, and told us plainly when an idea of ours was not economically sensible or carried a downside we had not considered. He was straightforward, transparent, and respectful throughout. Communication was excellent — calls, emails, and texts were returned promptly. He even introduced us to each of the subcontractors so we could build a relationship with them directly. Most importantly, the finished work was excellent, delivered on time, and inside our budget. What more is there to ask? Highly recommended.

“He has completed more than 25 projects for my clients over the years, and I intend to keep sending them his way.”

Derek is far and away the best contractor I have worked with, and his ability to listen to my clients and respond to what they actually need has exceeded anything I expected. Being classically trained and professionally educated shows in the work. His grasp of both the practical and the possible means he handles small and large-scale jobs equally well, and there is genuinely nothing I would hesitate to refer to him. He has completed more than 25 projects for my clients over the years, and I intend to keep sending them his way.

“The job finished on the day they said it would, and the estimate was very nearly exact.”

I was extremely pleased with my experience working with GW Construction. Derek was professional, easy to talk to, and always straightforward to reach. Our 1975 kitchen and bathroom were badly in need of updating. The team gave us a bid for the remodel and brought out granite samples so we could choose the counters. The job finished on the day they said it would, and the estimate was very nearly exact. Both the kitchen and the bathrooms turned out fantastic. I was genuinely impressed with the work and would recommend GW Construction to anyone looking for high-quality work at a fair and honest price.

“He is open, flexible, and he listens. The crew take pride in their work and they clean up after themselves.”

GW Construction has my wholehearted endorsement. Derek takes real time over the consultation. He is open, flexible, and he listens to his clients. The crew take pride in their work and they clean up after themselves — which should not be remarkable, but it is. They worked quickly and efficiently and the end result was excellent.

Common questions

What areas does GW Construction serve?

We work throughout the Treasure Valley and the surrounding counties — Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Eagle, Star, Kuna, Garden City, and Middleton, plus Melba, Wilder, Parma, Notus, and Greenleaf in Canyon County, Marsing and Homedale in Owyhee County, and out to Emmett, Mountain Home, Horseshoe Bend, and Idaho City.

What does a free consultation involve?

One of our consultants meets you at your property, listens to your ideas, and gives you honest feedback wherever you are in the decision process — including whether a project is worth doing at all. There is no pressure and no obligation. The goal is that you leave with enough information to make a good decision, whether or not you hire us.

Do you handle permits and inspections?

Yes. Permit submittal, plan-check corrections, and inspection scheduling are part of the job in every jurisdiction we work in. That includes the extra layers common around Boise — historic district review in the North End and East End, Foothills and hillside requirements, floodplain permitting near the Boise River, and county standards for parcels outside city limits.

How much does a remodel cost in the Boise area?

It depends on scope, the age and condition of the house, and finish level — and any contractor who quotes a number before seeing the property is guessing. What we can do is walk the house, talk through what you want, and give you a real range early, before you have spent money on design the budget was never going to support.

Do you build shops, garages, and ADUs?

Regularly, and it is some of our most requested work. RV shops, detached garages, metal buildings, equipment storage, and accessory dwelling units across Ada, Canyon, and Owyhee County. Setbacks, height limits, lot coverage, and irrigation district easements decide what actually fits, and we check all four before anything is drawn.

Do you work on older homes?

Regularly, and it is a specialty rather than an inconvenience. Older Treasure Valley homes bring increased structural demands, aging electrical and plumbing, minimal insulation, and the potential presence of asbestos and lead-based paint. Knowing that going in is what keeps an old-house project from turning into a series of surprises.
